Branching out

BUCKAROO!

This was one of my favourite games from my childhood. Again like other timeless classics it has been around way before I was a child and it continued to evolve with the times, betteradvertising and better illustrated packaging. I prefer the older versions than the 'newer' versions that were around when I played them. One game like Buckaroo gives me another branch to explore, I could look at horses, westerns, cowboys? the possibilities are endless...

Timeless classics

How about vintage children's board games. Games that used to keep me and my friends entertained for hours as young children with simple colour palettes, game rules and aims. Some of my favourites were snakes and ladders, connect four, hopscotch and battleships. These games were around long before I was but kept going through the eras as they are timeless classics that children enjoyed for years and years. This gives me a massive range of areas to branch off too, a theme with lots of inspiration and possibilities, just what I need to keep me busy and interested.

Games in the 21st century are all full of technology and gadgets, what happened to a good old board game? I want to go for the vintage theme not the contemporary so games like snakes and ladders and marbles are perfect.

I found a lovely vintage old fashioned advert for connect four from the 1980's.

What a beautifully crafted vintage snakes and ladders board.

My head is spinning with ideas and inspiration now.

First Ideas

So I have been recently thinking about what I should base my final major project around. I want to go with a theme that is new to me and something that's going to keep me interested throughout the whole project. Something vintage maybe?... something contemporary?... something ordinary?... or something unusual?... Vintage isn't somewhere I usually explore maybe I'll go there.
Then it's the decision of fashion or interiors?? hmm Fashion? interiors? fashion? interiors?..... I guess that will be decided after the theme is chosen.
